How Roan is Doing...

You can read all about his last appointment in the previous post, if you want.

Grandma Bibi (my mom), great-grandma Berta, and aunt Jessie came up for my cousin's shower. She (along with my aunt, uncle, and other cousins) live up in Marquette, but they were in Lansing for something else, so we had a little family shower for her at PF Changs. Hers is the first wedding I will be a bridesmaid in! Anyway, this is supposed to be about Roan, haha.

Still not crawling, but that's ok. He's just too efficient at rolling! Tooth #1 isn't all the way through yet and tooth #2, according to the doctor, should have been here by now, but alas, it's still hiding. Thankfully, he's back to eating his usual amounts.

He loves clapping (among many things), as evidenced by this video (taken today):

We've started putting Roan to bed a little later and it's going pretty well. He still wakes up at the same time as before (around 6am). Although this morning he slept till 7! We're now starting bedtime routine at 8pm instead of 7pm. Though he would go to bed fine, it was always a little stressful with naps and feedings. He'd always want to nap from 5-6, but that was just too close to bedtime, so we'd keep him up. Also, whenever family would babysit, they really wouldn't get much time with him. Now, he takes a nap as soon as we get home from daycare. That way he's awake by 5:45 at the latest and ready to eat by 7:30/8pm. Though today he napped until 6, but still went down just fine. We're spoiled by this kid!

Basically everything with Sean and I is the same. We're both still working...so nothing really to report for us.

7 Month Update

Roan had his belated 6-month check up today. He's 18lbs 6oz (2oz down from his last appointment when he was sick, but the doctor said that's nothing to worry about) and 27.5'' long! They didn't tell us the percentiles and I don't feel like trying to look it up, haha. Not right now, anyway.

We asked about him not eating lately and the doctor said it's a minor set-back and should get better soon. He said his 2nd tooth is on it's way through! We should expect it in the next day or so. I think that's why he's not eating and the doc said that's possible.

Seriously, Roan spoils us. Even though he's teething, he's continued to sleep through the night. Even last night although he threw up all the oatmeal and his whole bottle right before bed. He was starving when he woke up, though!

His next check-up is April 2nd...a week before he turns 9 months, but since he's not getting shots, I guess it doesn't really matter.

In other news...I made homemade teething cookies. Adults can eat them, too (with coffee), and he seemed to like them. Well, for a while. He'd just had a bottle, so he enjoyed it for a few minutes, then he was done.

And just for fun, more pictures:

This was from earlier today. Totally asleep :)

First Craft, First Girlfriend?!

How Roan is Doing

Roan is finally feeling better! So happy about that! His rash is basically gone...I seriously hated seeing his poor face just covered in those red spots.

He made his first craft at daycare :) They put the kids in the exersaucer with paper under their feet & they "feet painted"! Then they cut it out into a heart shape. It's hanging up in the hallway at daycare right now. They said Roan was kinda weirded out by the feeling of paint on his feet, haha.

So, we think Roan has his first girlfriend! There's a little girl in the nursery who's walking...she's actually going to be moving up to the next room soon. But when I dropped him off today, she walked right over to him in his car seat and they both had huge smiles on their faces! Sean said he's noticed that they get really excited when they see each other, too. The ladies in the nursery haven't said anything about them playing together a lot or anything, but I thought it was cute :)

How Mom is Doing...

Down 8lbs thanks to Weight Watchers! I gotta kick it up, though, because I don't feel like my belly area is shrinking and that's the main thing I need to shrink. I didn't have an inhaler for weeks, then when I finally got one, our Xbox broke...which means no Your Shape. I was feeling pretty good this morning about my progress...then a 3rd grader asked if I was pregnant and told me I looked like I was. Not even an hour later, another 3rd grader said I looked like I just had a baby. Yeah, I know they're kids...and it definitely doesn't sting or offend like it would if they were adults. But it still does kinda stink. Kids call it like it is. Oh well, moving on.

How Dad is Doing...

Working, working, working! And we're not complaining. They're waiting to hear if a property accepts their bid that would give them 6ish weeks of work. So we're crossing our fingers and praying they accept it.

Sick, Sick, Sick

It all started with Roan throwing up at daycare on Friday the 27th. I got him right in to the doctor and they saw an ear infection (left ear only) and a throat infection, which the doctor suspected was the reason for him throwing up. He prescribed Amoxicilin. I knew he was really not feeling well because he fell asleep on me while waiting for the doctor.

Things seemed to be going alright until Wednesday when he woke with a 100.6 fever...plus he threw up at about 7:35, so I kept him home. I did call the doctor and the nurse gave me some things to look for and recommended scheduling a 1pm appointment for the next day in case he had a bad night. Thankfully, he never threw up again.

By Wednesday night, the fever reached 102. Bama gave him Tylenol before bed (she watches him Wednesday nights). We have an Angelcare monitor (detects movement), but I still checked on him a few times because he felt so warm, I wanted to make sure the Tylenol was actually getting the fever down. He was in a pretty thick sleep sac, but I wondered if that would help the fever go down. I took him out of it and it seemed to help.

Then he woke up at 1am. And I'm guessing about every 3 hours after that. Sean kinda took over after 4am because I'd gotten about 2 hours of sleep since I couldn't fall back asleep after his 1am wake-up.

At 9:45 today, his fever was up to 102 again, so I gave him Tylenol and called the doctor. He was really, really tired...which was probably due to not sleeping well, but I couldn't tell if he was lethargic or just tired. But the nurse said to keep the 1pm appointment and they'd check for dehydration.

His mood at the doctor's office was quite different this time!

He was actually smiling a lot, but those pics were blurry because he was moving so much.
I thought Great, he's gonna make a liar out of me. But the doctor was really understanding...she calls it "The Doorknob Syndrome". Sick kids are sick  and well kids are well until you touch that door handle and open the door to the office, then the sick kids' symptoms disappear and the well kids start showing symptoms.

She said his ears looked great. His temp was 98.9; though she suspected that was from the Tylenol. She recommended a change in antibiotics, so that's what we're doing. She said it'll take 24-48 hours for his temp to normalize.

Still, he does seem better today. I feel like my boy is back. Well, almost. Hopefully he'll sleep better tonight, though. And hopefully he won't get sick again cause this one is using up all my sick time! Glad I didn't use any of that during my maternity leave.
